Earwax, medically known as cerumen, is a natural substance produced by glands in your ear canal. It plays a vital role in keeping your ears healthy by trapping dust, dirt, and other foreign particles, preventing them from reaching your eardrum or middle ear. However, when earwax becomes impacted or excessive, it can lead to a range of uncomfortable symptoms.

Microsuction is considered a safe and efficient method to remove excessive wax without touching the eardrum. It is the most widely used and preferred method of wax removal. Using an O Scope to illuminate and obtain binocular clear and close-up visualisation of the ear canal, will detail the extent of wax blockage and enable safe removal. The procedure involves using a suction tube to gently remove ear wax from the ear canal without discomfort.
We usually recommend using olive oil drops in the ears for approximately 3-5 days prior to the appointment. To help soften the ear wax and ease removal.
